The Spiceboyz held Andorra to a 1-0 victory in their international friendly at the Estadi Nacional on Monday.
In the first half, Team Grenada demonstrated dominance with superior ball possession, but failed to capitalize on opportunities, ensuring that Andorra also couldn’t break through.
However, Grenada’s chances were impacted in the second half when Kayden Harrack (QPR UK) received a red card just 10 minutes in, reducing the team to 10 men. Shortly after, an Andorra free-kick opportunity led to Victor Bernat’s (58′) straightforward goal after goalkeeper Reice Charles Cook couldn’t maintain control on the goal line.
Despite being a player down, the Spiceboyz took charge of the match, successfully thwarting Andorra’s subsequent attempts.
Reflecting on the 1-0 loss, Senior Men’s National Team Head Coach Michael Findlay expressed disappointment, stating, “We are very disappointed we were unable to gain a result tonight. We felt strongly about our ability to control the tempo of play and did not feel we were put under any great pressure. However, football is about execution…with and without the ball, and we were punished tonight for the lack of that required execution at critical times.”
Coach Findlay emphasized the positive aspects of the experience, noting, “It’s been an excellent experience for our program on numerous levels, and we have met our objectives outside winning our matches, as this was about an evaluation of our squad in preparation for the Concacaf Nations League in June.”
The international friendly against Andorra was the second held outside of Grenada and in the UEFA region.
